What the hell is this?

This is one of only 20 "Polish Fest Milwaukee" photo results on Yahoo search that allows re-posting on other websites. Thanks, mjuzenas of flickr

This Friday through Sunday (6/18 – 6/20), the Summerfest grounds will be abuzz with the noises, smells, and nasty hip-hop associated with Polish fest. Let me check the schedule to verify that last sentence.

OK…so it’s going to be Polka Central, but you know what? Embrace it! What else ya gonna do? Try to hack your iPad to show flash-based porn sites? No, you’re gonna drag yourself down to the grounds, eat some Polish grub, drink some Tyskie beer, and dance to some polka music. Sure, you may not be Polish at all but in Milwaukee you can probably fake it for a least a few hours.

Polish Fest 2010. Friday through Saturday. $12 at the gate.

This Saturday (June 19, duh) you can nose around some nice houses in the Historic Concordia neighborhood (bordered by Highland and Wisconsin between 27th and 35th Streets) as they present their annual homes tour. The tour offers a chance to see the inside of some of the beautiful homes that are common in that area. Some are B&Bs. Some are single family residences. All are pretty sweet and will make you go home and look at your current house like it’s a dump. For $20, you can enter the homes and pretend to live there for a little while.

The J-S’s Homes section has also featured some neighborhood homes recently so be sure to check out this link for photos: http://www.jsonline.com/features/homeandgarden/93290709.html

Can you dig it?

Can you dig it? (image from the Journal-Sentinel. Temperatures based on their wizard-like predictions)

Technically there’s one week until summer and, though you could repeat that to your friends and relatives, the fact is that people are ready to dive in to their seasonal frivolities. Rain and occasionally chilly blasts, be damned!

Well, looking at the days ahead…it seems like some summer weather will be upon us. You know, those days where it will rain but you’re still too warm to do anything but look up photos on facebook of people you used to have sex with. Never mind. Any weather is good for that.

First of all…thanks for visiting! This looks like one more god-damned internet vanity project, huh? If this blog were named “Macho Milwaukee,” then there’d be no denying this was a vanity project, but then you’d also probably think that it was a little more male-oriented. Let’s keep it gender-neutral here, shall we? We don’t want the guys at work to look at us sideways.

Anyway, Mucho Milwaukee was created in the hopes of providing another venue for presenting, dissecting, and commenting on all sorts of Milwaukee-related minutiae. The internet has provided a great framework for blogging and it’s about to take off in this city. Are you gonna be a part of it? Well, are ya?

Never mind the hostility. Mucho Milwaukee intends to make this town a little more accessible and this “net” a little tighter. Sure, some dickiness may emerge at times but we reserve the right to refuse kindness to anyone. Think of it as a bar with cheap beer but bad service.

All right. Enough of writing blog mission statements after 4 pints of beer. On to the commentary of the city of Milwaukee- Wisconsin’s greatest city named “Milwaukee.”
